Homeschooling is an educational approach in which parents or guardians take primary responsibility for teaching their children at home, often using virtual homeschool programs rather than enrolling them in traditional public or private schools. It gives families the flexibility to design a curriculum that fits a child’s individual learning needs.

Homeschooling may adhere to a structured plan, utilize a flexible learning approach, or integrate elements of both. Numerous states have distinct requirements, and collaborating with A+ Virtual Learning helps in clarifying any uncertainties.

Parents may choose homeschooling for many reasons, including;

  • Personalized learning.
  • Religious or cultural preferences.
  • Special needs support.
  • Help in subjects like Math or Writing.

Learning often takes place through textbooks, online programs, hands-on activities, field trips, and real-world experiences.

Homeschooling also gives families the freedom to build schedules that fit their lifestyle. Children can pursue hobbies, travel, or spend extra time on challenging subjects. So, it provides a supportive educational environment that helps build confidence and independence.

Homeschooling becomes easier when families follow a clear set of steps. The first step is understanding the homeschooling laws in your state or country. A+ Virtual Learning offers free support if you need guidance.

Next, parents choose a curriculum. This may be a complete program, a support-based option, or a combination of resources based on the child’s learning style and academic goals. Many families also find it helpful to use live online homeschool classes to stay organized.

After selecting materials, creating a daily or weekly schedule helps establish a consistent routine. This schedule includes core subjects, breaks, and time for creative or hands-on learning.

Parents should set learning goals and track progress through assignments, projects, or assessments. Additional helpful steps include:

  • Setting up a distraction-free study area, planning field trips, and adding online classes or social activities as needed.
  • Online middle school students often enjoy Virtual Field Trips and Writing or Math classes (5th–8th graders) when available.
  • Regularly reviewing and adjusting the learning plan ensures that homeschooling continues to meet the child’s needs.

A+ Virtual Learning is an excellent choice for families seeking flexible and supportive online homeschooling programs. In the Parent-Directed Learning Space, parents lead instruction while benefiting from an A+ supported atmosphere.

Each middle school level includes 100+ hours of material and can be used with video-based, textbook, or project-based learning. This works well for families seeking homeschool science curriculum or support for English, math, and social studies

Families can choose:

  • Level 1: Ideal for online classes for 5th and 6th graders
  • Level 2: Suitable for online classes for 7th and 8th graders

They can even request a free sample.

This option includes one hour of online teacher tutoring each week, neurodivergent learning suggestions, onboarding for the whole family, help with state paperwork, and a 5- or 10-month contract for flexibility.

For more structure, the Teacher-Supported Learning Space provides a school-like, collaborative schedule with only two hours of instruction per day. Students attend math, science, ELA, social studies, and daily project-based learning.

This plan includes access to Parent-Directed materials, language or STEM add-ons, a complete onboarding process, and a free one-week trial.

Add-on classes we offer include:

  • Coding & Gaming
  • Spanish (elective or second-language, depending on state requirements)
  • French (elective or second-language, depending on state requirements)

Our staff at A+ Virtual Learning is experienced, dedicated, and committed to supporting every learner. Each instructor is state-certified and brings more than basic online-tutoring experience. Many are trained in homeschool education and know how to adapt lessons for different learning styles, especially when guiding students through an online homeschool curriculum.

Our team includes specialists in special education who are equipped to support neurodivergent students. They possess a strong understanding of IEP goals, personalized accommodations, and the support children require to thrive. In addition to academic pursuits, our team emphasizes effective communication, collaboration, and fostering positive relationships with families.

All our staff together ensure each child receives personalized attention, compassion, and professional support for an outstanding homeschooling experience.

Homeschooling laws vary by state, but an accredited program is usually not required. Accredited programs are often called "umbrella programs" and are only required in certain states and certain situations. Students can meet their state’s graduation requirements through a personalized homeschool plan. If they plan to attend college, they may use options like the GED to support admission.

Homeschooling also offers flexibility, so many students can start taking community college courses earlier, giving them a head start on future opportunities.

We can help you choose the next steps that best fit your family’s goals.

Teacher-Directed Program: Students attend classes Monday through Thursday, either from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM or 1:00 PM–4:00 PM. Core subjects are covered during this time to support consistent academic progress. The maximum number of learning hours totals 48 hours per month. If you choose, project-based activities are available to supplement the online classes to meet your state's hourly requirements.

Parent-Directed Program: Schedules are flexible and created during onboarding with your tutor. We recommend completing bookwork in 45-minute sessions during your child’s peak learning time, typically between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM. To support focus and balance, we suggest limiting online time to a few hours per day. All curriculum materials can also be printed for offline use.
