A Teaching Model Built on the 5 Pillars
Our instructional model is designed to capture and hold student attention through warm, structured routines, interactive tools, and clear expectations. You will be trained and supported to deliver lessons that keep students active—not passive.
We expect and support teachers in using visual models, verbal explanations, demonstrations, guided practice, digital tools, and hands-on tasks (even in virtual learning). You’ll have planning resources and PD that help you reach all learning styles—auditory, visual, kinesthetic, and reading/writing.
You’ll teach rigorous, standards-aligned lessons that focus on conceptual understanding. A+ provides the structure to ensure lessons connect deeply to NYSED Standards, the Social Studies Practices, the Science and Engineering Practices, and Regents expectations.
At A+, students do meaningful work: discussion, inquiry tasks, problem-solving, writing, labs, civic questions, and discipline-specific thinking. Teachers receive frameworks for designing lessons where students apply what they know—not just recall it.
